Company History

The feed division of Parrish & Heimbecker was officially founded in 1975, with mills in Saskatoon, Calgary and Lethbridge. Although many of these facilities provided livestock feeds in one capacity or another as early as 1906. With a history rooted in flour and grain handling, Parrish & Hemibecker entered the Western Canadian Feed Industry with a proud presence in New-Life Feeds. Quality feed, a fair price and a high value are traditions that have stood for over 100 years.

Lethbridge, Alberta

The Lethbridge Facility was Initially founded in 1906 with the construction of the Ellison Milling flour company. A flour mill with initial capacity of producing 20 barrels per day of flour was constructed in 1906. Grain elevators and seed cleaning plants were later built as this business grew. Today's feedmill began originally as a seed cleaning facility, but quickly became a feed supplier while marketing flour, seed and byproducts to the local community.

The Lethbridge facility initially generated annual sales of 2500 tonnes per year. Years of upgrades, new equipment, and improvements in feed manufacturing technology now permit over 70,000 tonnes of feed production.

Just as the Lethbridge facility has grown, so to has the city of Lethbridge. Located on 2nd avenue, New-Life feeds and Ellison Milling now find themselves in the centre of the city. Adjacent to Highway #3, a major shipping route through Southern Alberta, we are well situated to serve the high density of Poultry, Feedlot, Beef, Dairy and Swine producers in one of the North America's largest irrigation districts. Our facility has grown from bagged feed orders to large bulk truckload orders as well as railcar access.

Further expansion of our load out storage capacity permits 24 hour per day feed manufacturing capability, as well as segregation of feed products to prevent contamination of medicated feed, or specialty products ensuring our high level of quality and permitting us to service Quality Assurance, H.A.C.C.P. and Government mandated codes of practice for food safety.
